Eligibility & Participation Requirements

To be eligible for participation in the Juneteenth Royal Court in the Lake County area, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Residency: Applicants must be local residents of the Lake County area.
  2. Academic Performance: Applicants must have good grades, although specific GPA requirements may vary depending on the organizer’s discretion.
  3. Submission of Video: Applicants must submit a video answering the question: “What is Juneteenth?” The video should be no longer than 2 minutes in duration.

These requirements ensure that participants are not only engaged with the cultural significance of Juneteenth but also represent their community positively.

Introduction:

Welcome to the Juneteenth Royal Court, where we celebrate the rich heritage and cultural significance of Juneteenth in the Lake County area. As part of our commitment to honoring this historic occasion, we are thrilled to announce the Juneteenth Royal Court Prize, an opportunity for local residents to showcase their knowledge and passion for Juneteenth while competing for a special recognition.

About the Prize:

The Juneteenth Royal Court Prize is more than just an award; it’s a recognition of the dedication and understanding of Juneteenth demonstrated by our community members. By participating in our video submission contest, contestants have the chance to share their insights and perspectives on what Juneteenth means to them and its importance in our collective history.

How to Participate:

To enter the competition, simply create a video no longer than 2 minutes in length answering the question: “What is Juneteenth?” Be creative, be insightful, and most importantly, be authentic in sharing your understanding of this pivotal moment in American history. Once your video is ready, upload it using the submission form provided on our website.

Eligibility:

Participants must be local residents of the Lake County area and demonstrate good academic standing. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life to take part in this celebration of knowledge and community.

Prize Details:

The Juneteenth Royal Court Prize will be awarded based on the quality and creativity of the video submissions. The winning entry will receive a special recognition for their dedication to preserving and promoting the legacy of Juneteenth.

All video submissions must be received by May 27,2024 to be considered for the Juneteenth Royal Court Prize. Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this meaningful celebration!

 

Conclusion:

On June 14, 2024, we will come together to make the final decision on the Juneteenth Lake County Festival for Mr. & Miss Juneteenth, showcasing the talent, intellect, and spirit of our young community members in 9th – 12th grade. We eagerly anticipate hearing their reflections on what Juneteenth means to them, as they embody the essence of this historic celebration.

For our contestants, we’ve curated two distinctive looks: the First Look and the Second Look, providing them with the opportunity to express their individuality and style while paying homage to the significance of Juneteenth. Additionally, our Jr. Mr. & Miss Juneteenth contestants in 6th – 8th grade will have their own platform to shine. Alongside their expressive and formal looks, they’ll also have the opportunity to showcase their unique talents, whether it’s singing, dancing, spoken word, or any other form of creative expression. This talent segment adds another layer of excitement and individuality to the event, allowing our young participants to further embody the spirit of Juneteenth through their artistry.

As we approach this exciting event, let us remember the profound significance of unity, diversity, and the continual pursuit of equality and justice for all. Together, we honor the enduring legacy of Juneteenth and empower the next generation to uphold its principles as they navigate toward a brighter and more inclusive future.
